Student Life at Oxford

Oxford is a collegiate university. This means that each student and professor is part of a small and supportive college community. There are 30 colleges which admit undergraduates. Each college has between 250 and 450 students studying a whole range of courses. Each college is different in various ways, and this rich variety is part of what makes the Oxford experience so special. Your college is where you live, eat, work, and receive most of your teaching in one-on-one or two-on-one weekly tutorials.

As a PPE student, you also belong to the Philosophy Faculty, the Department of Politics, and the Department of Economics. The Departments/Faculties arrange your lectures and classes, and set and mark your examinations at the end of the First and Final Years.

The colleges, Departments and Faculties, Bodleian libraries, and museums together make up the University of Oxford. To find out about more about Oxford, including the city and nightlife, accommodation, music, sport, drama, and clubs and societies, please see here.
